Our Curriculum
At Hertford Heath, we are passionate about forging the best opportunities we can give to the learners in our care and understand the huge impact a well organised and creative curriculum has on their life chances, and the reputation of a school.
Through developing capable and confident Subject Leaders we have developed our curriculum where both the creativity of the teacher and children is harnessed. Where in the past the curriculum was narrowed, strategic decisions have been made to develop each subject and learning area, leading to focused teaching and higher standards.
Children at our school are able to build on a series of sequenced lessons, tapping into their prior knowledge to make meaningful connections and ensure learning is ‘sticky’. A key part of our success has been giving the children the skills to self and peer mark as well as the ability to respond to feedback. This includes a change to how teachers’ feedback to pupils for maximum impact and how they structure lessons.
