Science. Following on from our great trip to Kew Gardens, our first lesson looked at how living things (be they plants or in this case, animals) can be classified into different categories, based on any number of characteristics.
RE. This term we are learning about Holy and sacred books and their significance to different religions. In this lesson we looked at the Bible and in particular the fact that it is broken into two books. We researched and summarised the difference between the New and Old Testament.
Geography: We are learning about Water, and in particular Rivers this term. These two activities allowed the children to research the journey a body of water takes along a river and the second lesson focused on looking at that journey from a bigger perspective to understand all of the parts of a given area that are involved in one way or another with a body of water, in this case, a river.
Literacy. We've covered some interesting units in Literacy this term so far. In the first image we see a breakdown about how you can describe characters and settings, using predominately the front cover of The Lost Happy Endings as a reference. Second, is an example of a Persuasive letter written (to me) to inform me of the importance of preserving energy in day to day life. The third and forth images were from a lesson where we wrote a paragraph with an embedded sub section about an important issue- Toys. The final image was from a lesson where we dissected and analysed a piece of an Informative text to understand the different components which make it up.
