School Improvement Priorities

We have identified key priorities as part of a new three-year School Development Plan (2026-2029) to continue driving improvement.  Our plan prioritises raising attainment for all in the core subjects of maths and writing, continued commitment to the success of developing foundation skills in Early Years and raising attendance for all children.  We remain committed to creating a safe, ambitious and nurturing school where every child can thrive.

1. Attendance: We are strengthening our approach to attendance through early identification of barriers, targeted support and close work with families. We want more pupils to attend school regularly, fewer pupils to be persistently absent, and improved attendance for pupils eligible for free school meals and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

2. Foundation Stage: We want to build on the strong Good Level of Development outcomes we have already achieved by strengthening children’s early language, communication, phonics, number sense and learning behaviours. We will support every child to make a confident start in Year 1, while narrowing gaps in outcomes for disadvantaged children and boys.

3. Mathematics: We are developing mathematics teaching so that more pupils achieve the expected standard and more pupils reach the higher standard by the end of primary school. We want disadvantaged pupils to make stronger progress and the attainment gap to narrow.

4. Writing: We are strengthening the teaching of writing so that more pupils achieve the expected standard and more pupils write at greater depth by the end of primary school. We want disadvantaged pupils’ outcomes to improve and the gap with their peers to narrow.
