YEAR 5 TIMES TABLE ROCKSTARS!!!

W/B 28th September 2026

This week, Year 5 began their new Literacy text 'Cloud Tea Monkeys' by the author 'Juan Wijngaard'. It is based on a Tea Plantation in India, and we began our unit by researching all about them! We found out that they have slopy hills for the water to run down, a source of income for the whole community, and there is a 6-step process from farm to tea leaf! We then focused more on the narrative and began to unpick the figurative language within the narrative, which we will be beginning to use in our own creative writing!

Year 5 have been investigating a range of different forces, including gravity, friction and air resistance! Have a look at our Friction investigation, looking at different surfaces and how friction affected the time it took to fall down the ramp!

This week, Year 5 begun their new computing unit all about Quizzes! We had the chance to discuss the different quizzes that we take part in at home, discussed what we like about them and why we complete them! We then had the chance to play a quiz ourselves...but it all went wrong! We reflected on what we are going to do better, when we make our own quizzes!!

This week in Year 5, we created our Zones of Regulation display, by drawing ourselves, and writing advice for  classmates for when we are in different emotional zones, including... 'When I feel happy, I might say that I am excited to be here'! This includes use of our lollypop sticks. We also began out Tudor History Topic, and created Tudor Roses, which are also displayed in our classroom.
