During Art Week, Year 3 linked their History learning about the Ancient Egyptians to create their own scrolls. The children made their own paper using techniques inspired by those used in Ancient Egypt. They then designed and decorated their scrolls using Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, symbols and patterns, bringing their historical learning to life through creativity and art!
Literacy - Year Three have been generating vocabulary for their free verse poems inspired by nature. They went outdoors to observe and describe the nature around them using the five senses, gathering a variety of descriptive words and phrases. They then shared their ideas with one another, ready to incorporate them into their own poems.
Literacy - This week, Year 3 began their new poetry unit in Literacy. The children have been exploring free verse and rhyming poems, identifying and discussing the key features of each style. They also practised reading a free verse poem aloud, using expression and intonation to bring the poem to life and develop their understanding of rhythm and how it can vary across different poems.
In PSHE, Year 3 worked in groups to come up with solutions to a range of scenarios, such as, “What would you do if you saw someone being left out of a game?” The children then presented their ideas and discussed their solutions with the class.
