Purple Mash supports Year 5 online safety through the following content coverage:
- Responsibililtes and support when online
- Protecting privacy through secure passwords and understanding image manipulation
- Learning how to cite references in sources
- To search the internet with consideration for the reliability of results
- Ensuring reliability through using different methods of communication
- SMART rules
PSHE - Coram Life: SCARF
SCARF is Coram's holistic, value-driven PSHE scheme which we use to teach e-safety. For Year 5, online safety concepts are woven into the units "Me and My Relationships", "Valuing Differences" and "Keeping Safe"
- Understand that online communication can be misinterpreted
- Accepting that responsible and respectful behaviour is necessary when interacting with others online as well as face-to-face
- Understand that the information we see online, either text or images, is not always true or accurate
- Recognise that some people post things online about themselves that aren't true
- Recognising online bullying and understanding strategies to deal with it
- Know how to protect personal information online
- Considering what information is safe/unsafe to share online
