Class Photos

In PE this week, Year 3 have been devising their own ball games in small groups. They then shared the rules of their games with the rest of the class. In English they have written some brilliant poems based on The Magic Box by Kit Wright.

In music, we have been creating our own compositions in response to looking at different pictures and watching short animations. We are beginning to use musical vocabulary such as ‘timbre’, ‘dynamic’ and ‘texture’ when discussing music.

This week year 3 have been working on our addition and subtraction skills using equipment to support our learning. In English we have finished writing our own stories and this week we have moved on to poetry. We also had big smiles for our school photos!

This week Year 3 have been hard at work writing their own version of a story and producing some excellent work. In History we learnt about why the River Nile was so important to the Ancient Egyptians and in Science we looked at the bones of different animals and played a matching game between the animal and skeleton.

Parents may have noticed an extra visitor in the classroom when they came for the meet the teacher session this week, our Skeleton 'Bob' We have been using him during science lessons, looking at the different bones in the body and their functions. In PE this week the children created their own ball games in groups and have been working really hard with their writing.

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to the year, showing lots of curiosity and enthusiasm for school. They also had a good first swimming session. Year 3 have been working really had with their English, writing about Mini Rabbit Not Lost using strong verbs, adverbs and conjunctions. In maths we have been working on place value and partitioning numbers. Thank you to all the children for making me feel so welcome at Hertford Heath.
