Year 4 have been working really hard on their music topic this term. We have been using body percussion to make sounds of the rainforest. This week, we have added in percussion instruments alongside our body percussion to make rainforest sounds. The children got to preform to their class.
Year 4 had a great PSHE workshop all about mental health and wellbeing on Tuesday. They learned about the working parts of the brain and how we can help our mental wellbeing. They learnt that exercise is important, taking deep breaths and speaking to adults can help us. I'm looking forward to seeing them trying to put these in place.
Year 4 have started their new PSHE topic this week all about rights and respect. We started off the topic by looking at different careers and how they can keep us safe. Children worked in groups to decide what duties they had and how we could make their jobs easier - they looked at teachers, firefighters and the police.
In PE this term, Year 4 are learning all about netball. We have been focusing on developing our passing skills, particularly chest passes and bounce passes. The children are working hard to improve their technique, accuracy, and teamwork as they practise these fundamental netball skills. It’s been great to see their confidence growing each week as they apply what they’ve learned in fun drills and small-sided games.
In Year 4, children have been exploring the exciting history of rock and roll, learning how this lively style of music first emerged in the 1950s and quickly spread around the world. They discover how rock and roll combined elements of rhythm and blues with country music, creating a sound that was energetic, fun, and made people want to dance. The class also tries out the hand jive, a popular dance from the time that uses clapping and hand movements instead of big dance steps.
This week, Year 4 have been busy writing speech. We have been looking at the words spoken and the reporting clause and being able to place the punctuation in the correct place. We based our sentences off our new book, 'Arthur and The Golden Rope'.
